DescriptionBeginning in Anchorage and ending in Nome, the world's longest sled dog race brings participants and fans from around the World to watch this historical endurance event.The first finisher may arrive in Nome 10 days after the start, weather and trail conditions permitting.The fun activities include a Pre-Race Mushers' Banquet and Drawing (Anchorage), the Iditarod Basketball Tournament (Nome), with more than 50 amateur teams, the Iditarod Finisher's Banquet and the Business Man's Sled Dog Race (Nome), open to all comers. Plus, there are many other food and fun events and craft shows.In addition to the race, Nome features events and festivities to keep locals and visitors entertained during the span of the race.

DirectionsFrom Anchorage, leave town on 6th Avenue which turns to into the Glenn Hwy. Follow this until you come to the Parks Hwy. Turn left on Parks (only way you can turn). At the 4th traffic light AFTER the turn, make a left on Knik/GooseBay Rd. Iditarod HQ and museum is exactly 2.2 miles down Knik Rd
