The acclaimed Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular returns to Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence this fall, from October 8 through November 1. This latest presentation will be even more “spectacular,” with double the amount of pumpkins – 10,000 in all. The result promises to be a truly breathtaking sight, featuring thousands of traditional jack o’ lanterns, and hundreds of others intricately carved into works of art. A team of over 30 professional pumpkin carvers will spend six weeks creating the magical display, which will be set on the Zoo’s wetlands trail amidst special lighting and musical themes. Visitors will feast their eyes on a dazzling array of pumpkin “scenes” depicting everything from wildlife themes to icons of popular culture, all carved with painstaking detail and amazing artistry. This unique, family friendly evening event has been commended by the U.S. Library of Congress as a national “local legacy”. This event, hailed by the Associated Press as “extraordinary” has also been featured on the Early Show, USA Today and CNN
