Welcome to the Kalamazoo Animation Festival International (KAFI), the premier animation film festival of the Midwest and one of the top 20 animation festivals in the world. KAFI 2009 will be the biggest yet. We’ve welcomed animators and industry veterans from such companies as Pixar, Disney, Nickelodeon Hanna Barbera, Electronic Arts, Cartoon Network, Adobe, Dreamworks, Animation World Network, PBSKids, and Alias. Additionally, we’ve welcomed animators and educators from Sheridan College, College for Creative Studies, Art Institute, Max the Mutt Animation School, Columbia College, Bowling Green State University, San Jose State University, and others. KAFI has been privileged to screen many Academy Award winning and nominated films for such as “Ryan” (2004) by Chris Landreth (Oscar winner for Best Animated Short Film, 2005). Additionally, we have screened Academy Award winner “The Moon and the Sun” (2005) by John Canemaker and Academy Award nominated “Guard Dog” (2004) by Bill Plympton and “Das Rad” (2003) by Chris Stenner and Heidi Wittlinger. The Call-for-Entries for the animated films submissions,opens October 1, 2008 and closes January 15, 2009. $15,000 in prizes. No Entry fee.
