The Kalamata International Dance Festival, the main international festival in Greece dedicated to dance, is organized by the Kalamata International Dance Centre, founded in March 1995 within the framework of the Hellenic National Cultural Network of Cities (now Domain of Culture), an initiation of the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Municipalities. The 9th Kalamata International Dance Festival in 2003 hosts performances of the following companies: 18 & 19 July: Inbal Pinto Dance Company (Israel), 18 & 19 July: Compagnie Marie Chouinard (Canada), 20 & 21 July: Xavier Le Roy (Germany), 21 & 22 July: Andonis Foniadakis (Greece), 22 July: Haris Mandafounis Contemporary Dance Company (Greece), 23 & 24 July: Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods (Belgium), 24 & 25 July: Tero Saarinen Company (Finland), 25 July: George Piper Dances (UK), 26 July: Company Griffon 7 Dancetheatre Company Met Embodion (Greece), 26 & 27 July: Gelabert-Azzopardi Cia de Dansa (Spain-Germany), 27 July: Nasser Martin-Gousset/La Maison (France). Lisa Race will lead a contemporary dance workshop during the festival. Master classes and lectures will also be given by participating artists in the context of the Festival's educational program.
