DescriptionThe largest free radio station concert in Boston, the annual Radio 92.9 Earthfest (formerly the WBOS Earthfest) is a family friendly daylong event that focuses on environmental issues. In addition to musical performances, the event features family friendly activities and booths with educational displays, exhibits, and food and product samples. Previous Earthfests have drawn more than 100,000 people.
2008 Radio 92.9 Earthfest:
The 15th annual Radio 92.9 Earthfest, presented by Whole Foods Market, will take place on Saturday, May 24 from noon to 6 pm at the Hatch Shell along Storrow Drive on the Charles River Esplanade in Boston.
Musical performances on the main stage will begin at noon. Popular alternative rockers Cake ("The Distance," "Never There") will headline the event. The 2008 Earthfest lineup also includes Cracker, the English Beat, the BoDeans, and the Earthfest OurStage Boston Band winner.
For the second year, Earthfest will feature the Boston Music Stage featuring local artists. Five local acts, selected from the 92.9 Earthfest Channel on OurStage.com, will perform, and the winning artist will have the opportunity to play on the Earthfest main stage.
