|
About Fantastic Fest
Fantastic Fest is a week-long festival featuring the best in new science-fiction, fantasy, horror, animation, crime, Asian, and all around badass cinema. The event was created to offer exposure to genre films which are often overlooked by the traditional festival circuit. We strive to offer acquisition, media and exhibition opportunities for undistributed films as well as to spotlight upcoming genre theatrical releases and give audiences a chance to see 35mm prints of repertory classics.
Fantastic Fest is held each year at one venue, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema on South Lamar in Austin, Texas. The Alamo Drafthouse was named the best cinema in America by Entertainment Weekly, and features food and drink served to your seat without any disruption of the movie experience.
During his Keynote Address at the International film Festival Summit in Las Vegas, Variety president and publisher Charlie Koones listed Fantastic Fest in a list of "10 Film Festivals we Love," which he described as "interesting and exciting" events, not listed in order of importance. In addition to our festival, the list included industry heavy-hitters such as Cannes, Toronto and Telluride.
We strive to make the festival the most friendly, fun and exciting experience as possible for our out of town guests and visiting filmmakers. In addition to showcasing over 60 premiere genre features and 30 shorts, we host plenty of parties throughout the week as well as outings to local Texas institutions and always one serious barbecue run.

World Performing Arts Festival 2008
November 13 - November 23, 2010
Lahore, Pakistan |
 |
|
|
|
World Performing Arts Festival Pakistan 2008
Through its 25 editions, the World Performing Arts Festival held in Lahore has marked the biggest celebration of the performing arts in the region. The Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop has stood by its commitment to the arts by continuing to put up the festival year after year, often in the face of tense political scenarios and extreme security threats.
In its 25-year history, the festival has remained remarkably consistent even when confronted with challenges that threatened its very existence. The Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop has striven to make this event the most important cultural link between Pakistan and the rest of the world. The 16,000 artists from 85 countries around the globe who have visited Pakistan since the beginning of this festival have gone back with wonderful memories of the hospitality, warmth and cultural richness of our people.
The World Performing Arts Festival has also served as a vital platform for local art and artists, giving them the opportunity to reach out into the international arena. It has shone the spotlight on artistic genius such as the sufi music of Sain Zahoor, which has gone on to win international plaudits for the country. Such impetus is greatly needed in order to protect indigenous art forms, which are otherwise dying of neglect and lack of governmental support. That the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop operates outside of government funding, and manages to achieve its aims independently, is a feat in itself.
This year’s festival grows out of a major economic crisis facing the country. Funding has more or less dried up, leaving the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop to put up the festival using its own resources and its own efforts. Given the tense security environment of the country, convincing international delegations to participate in the festival was an uphill task. Despite the difficulties and the hurdles, however, the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop has done its best to retain the global outlook and extensive program of the festival.
The World Performing Arts Festival 2008 will welcome 300 delegates from around the world; a commendable number considering the fact that most countries have issued travel warnings to their citizens against coming to Pakistan. The shortage of economic resources has in no way decreased the size of the festival and theatre, dance, music, puppetry and film will be represented in an extraordinary showcase of diversity and talent.
We are proud to announce that in these difficult times, the festival has actually managed to spread its wings by securing an additional venue in the form of the nearby Punjab Institute of Languages. Equipped with a theatre and an exhibition centre, it will be the perfect setting for film screenings and stand-up shows.
The festival’s 25th edition is a cause for celebration not only because it is a culmination of the Peerzada vision to promote a global identity for Pakistan, but also because it remains the biggest meeting p

International Beverly Hills Film Festival
April 03 - April 10, 2011
Beverly Hills, California, USA |
 |
|
|
|
Today, The International Beverly Hills Film Festival is considered among the most exclusive film festivals in the world in one of the most exclusive cities in the world. The Beverly Hills Film Festival, or The BHFF as it is known, is proud to play host over an intimate five (5) day affair with over twenty-five thousand (25,000) attendees. The BHFF brings together hundreds (100’s) of media from around the globe, with over five hundred million (500,000,000) media impressions reported annually and growing.
We are proud of our outstanding ability to recognize some of the pasts and futures most unique experiences by bringing them into the now-the present, after all the present is truly a gift. From the first film ever shot in Hollywood, “In Old California” by D.W. Griffith, to discovering Federico Fellini’s last film “Verso La Luna Con Fellini,” (Towards the Sun with Fellini) staring Federico Fellini and Roberto Bernini, The BHFF is honored to pay homage to past greats and rising stars.
Each year The BHFF strives to bring creative new talent to the forefront and make dreams a reality. Our limited amount of films, in competition, has proved to be successful in helping keep our focus on you, the filmmaker. The BHFF is truly one of the last remaining “traditional” film festivals, dedicated to offering the best platform to showcase the best independent cinema has to offer.
The role of BHFF has grown rich over the years, constantly evolving with the evolution of cinema itself: promoting films and artists, welcoming professionals, implementing new sets of dynamics in support of creation... in a word, serving the cinema in all its dimensions.
