Leah
Leah has a powerful, yet soothing voice that can take you to another place... Her strong ballad-based songs are full of love and worship for the Lord. As well as expressing her feelings of her need for that close relationship with God, she also sings about love, regrets and feeling alone. Leah began her musical journey as a young child singing in church. With her parents encouraging her to use her gifts for the Lord, she also began taking piano lessons at age 9 and even started tinkering with writing little pieces here and there. By the time she was in high school, she was writing music and lyrics and recording them at home. She then went on to study voice and music at MACU in OKC, OK. While there, she grew more with her songwriting & leading worship. She performed one of her early original songs for the first time in the MACU Chapel and this influenced her to dive in more with songwriting. In the midst of her college journey, she met her husband, Stephen, and they married in 2003. She continued on, writing more songs and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's in Music Performance. Upon graduating, Leah still felt like there was more God had for her and she began leading worship at her church. Still writing songs, she was performing them more consistently at church and for special occasions. Then, in March of 2008, due to some changes, Leah and her husband felt like it was time to move on from the church that Leah called home her whole life. At this point, she wasn't sure what was next, but God led them to their current Church home, Eagle Heights Church in OKC, OK. The summer of 2009, Leah went to Nashville to the Immerse Music Conference. This was something she had been wanting to do since graduating college. During this time, she met lots of people in the Christian music industry and learned so much. But, the main thing that stuck out was when Michael W. Smith was speaking about when he first went to Nashville. It wasn't going so smoothly for him in the beginning and so he prayed to God that if this wasn't where God wanted him, to change the desire of his heart. This really spoke to Leah and she decided to do the same thing. After praying her prayer, God started opening doors, and she met with a Christian artist, Naomi Carroll for dinner one night not long after her return from Nashville. They hit it off and Leah then began singing bgv's and being mentored by Naomi. Leah sang bgv's for Naomi off and on for about a year. During this time, Naomi helped Leah with her songwriting and in October 2010, Leah released her first debut single, "Beautiful is You" on ITunes. Her debut album, "Greatest Love", was released May 22, 2012. Leah and Stephen have two beautiful children, Caitlyn and Ethan. And two little furry children, Sadie and Tessa. They live in OKC, OK. Leah is available for leading worship, conventions, youth/women's events, church services, & live concerts. Her performances can vary from original songs, current pop/rock covers, and worship music.
