The "Ramana Vieira Ensemble" "Ramana Vieira and Her Ensemble", referred to as the new voice of Portuguese music, is a prominent Bay Area band that combines traditional Portuguese "Fado" music with elements of world music by blending the beautiful, haunting melodies of traditional Portuguese Fado music with contemporary world/latin rhythms. The result is a sometimes haunting, always dramatic creative force. We consist of vocals, drum kit/percussion, electric bass, and classical guitar and cello. She has shared the stage with world-renowned fadista Mariza in a standing-room-only concert in Santa Cruz California, and has been invited back numerous times to perform at the Bay Area’s Lisbon Festival. Ramana was selected as one of a handful of artists who created a video and wrote a song called “United In Love” that was played at the awards ceremonies at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. She has been interviewed on numerous radio programs and today, she is popular with fans of World Music and ethnic soul wherever she performs.
