Downtown Franklin’s 32nd annual Main Street Festival will return April 25-26, 2015! The two-day weekend event will feature more than 200 artisans & crafters, outstanding entertainment, dedicated kids’ areas and an international food court. The free street festival runs Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Fourth Avenue street dance continues until 10 p.m. Saturday night. The Old Fourth Ward Business Association is excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Fire in the 4th, a festival taking place Saturday May 2, 2015, from 3 to 10p.m. With the purpose of building awareness for the community and businesses of the Old Fourth Ward, as well as to raise funds for street signage, and public safety initiatives, Fire in the 4th is looking to be an annual staple for one of Atlanta’s most recognized neighborhoods. Paying homage to the historic Great Atlanta Fire of 1917 which devastated the Old Fourth Ward, the festival will celebrate its heritage through art displays, sculptures, fire installations and performances, live music, and more. A location for the festival will be announced in the coming months. With Fire in the 4th, we really wanted to introduce an event that was reflective of the dynamic rebirth of the Old Fourth Ward, says O4WBA Event Chairman and Nonis Restaurant owner Matt Ruppert. By using the the reverent lens of the Great Atlanta Fire of 1917, this event will celebrate all that makes this one of Atlantas most exciting neighborhoods. In conjunction with the announcement of the festival, the Old Fourth Ward Business Association invites the local art community to participate in a logo contest beginning Friday June 6, 2014. Winning submissions will be featured throughout the festival and included as the official logo on all materials advertising the Fire in the 4th Festival. The winner will also receive a $200 prize. Entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on July 7, 2014 with limit to one submission per person. The winner will be notified by August 8, 2014 and will be decided by a committee comprised of members of The Old Fourth Ward Business Association. HowTheLightGetsIn, the worlds largest philosophy and music festival, is back for 2015. Theres a whole host of exhilarating new stages and surprises in store, as well as the thought-provoking debates and legendary parties youve come to expect. Last year our programme included over 450 events and more than 35,000 people came to our festival site in Hay-on-Wye to see speakers such as Owen Jones, Marcus Brigstocke, Beatrix Campbell, Joanna Kavenna and many, many more. A limited number of HowTheLightGetsIn Party Passes have just been released for this year’s festival, which will run from the 21st to the 31st of May 2015. These will give you access to our entire music, comedy, cabaret and film programme. Our parties have been presided over by the likes of Kate Tempest, Clean Bandit and internationally-acclaimed composer Michael Nyman. The Ocean Shores Convention Center will host the 8th Annual Grays Harbor County Expo Memorial Day Weekend, May 22nd - 24th. You won’t want to miss this multifaceted event which consists of the Grays Harbor Home Show, Oceans of Fine Arts, Roadside Chainsaw Carving Competition, Surf N Shine Car show, Tour de Shores and a Special Memorial Celebration. The Home Show features businesses showcasing the latest in home decor and home improvement ideas. What a great opportunity to find them all in a central location! The Art Expo features incredible artists from all over the Northwest. You are sure to be intrigued with a variety of juried art available to grace your home. The Roadside Chainsaw Carvers will be active in the parking lot, creating works of art for your lawn, garden or home. Auctions will be held during the show. What will they create to intrigue you? Tour de Shores is a family fun ride or run to raise funding to clean coastal beaches. The Local VFW will lead this years Memorial Service at 12:00pm, May 23rd in the Convention Center. What a great opportunity to commemorate a friend or family member. You will be able to post a note, picture or photo in their honor and to remind us all the true meaning of this holiday. Ice Carving is held Saturday and Sunday as carvers turn 300 pound blocks of ice into art. This is just the “tip of the iceberg” for this event. You will find free parking and free admission to everything, so be sure to put this event on your “must do list”.

Kids Ultimate Fitness Challenge - Nashville

The Ultimate Fitness Challenge is the nations largest mobile fitness event traveling from coast-to-coast getting kids physically fit and stopping in a city near you. Kids of all ages get the opportunity to demonstrate their physical fitness by participating in a time-based obstacle course that includes sprinting, jump roping, wall crawls, hurdles, jumping jacks, sit ups, tunnel crawls and to finish off the course - a 20 foot confidence climb and 60 meter dash to the finish! On Monday May 25, 2015 the Woodland Park Recreation Department will hold a Giant Street Fair. This event will be held on McBride Ave. from Lackawanna Ave. to Memorial Drive. The Street Fair hours are 10AM-5PM. The street will be transformed into a giant town block party. Our special kids section will be brimming with all kinds of fun stuff to do. There will be kiddie rides, face painting, sand art, temporary tattoos, pony rides & petting zoo, This event brings the whole community together.
