Gulfports Get Rescued
February 25, 2012
Gulfport, Florida, USA |
 |
|
|
|
Gulfport’s Get Rescued, the animal rescue festival and fundraiser, is preparing for its seventh annual event to take place on Saturday, February 26th, 2011 from 10AM to 5PM for the daytime event and 7 to 11PM for the evening event. Animal rescue organizations, many appearing with adoptable pets, take over Beach Blvd. to raise money and awareness for their causes. Additionally, animal-related vendors, artists and crafters offer their wares to festival-goers. Each year, hundreds of attendees, many accompanied by their own canine companions, make their way to Gulfport to participate in what has become a beloved tradition. Pet Related activities include Agility contests, a pet and their people dance contest, training demos, cat and dog origami and more.
Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of dog and cat food and cat litter to be distributed to the rescues. This popular event, which GMA hosts, has evolved from one block and a handful of animal rescue groups in its first year to a popular and beloved event representing as many as 60 animal rescue groups from throughout the region. It is one of the largest such events in the state. All proceeds from the event benefit participating non-profit rescue groups.
One component which continues this year is a Rescue Celebration held later in the evening after the daytime event. This year, the Celebration will be held at the Gulfport Casino from 7 to 11PM. Festivities will include music and dancing, cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, opportunity drawings and live and silent auctions with a wide variety of items provided by Gulfport merchants and supporters of the individual rescues. $20 tickets for the Celebration will be available in advance at The Outpost, Reef Dog or Domain Home Accessories, or tickets can be purchased at the door.
Supporters can become involved in Gulfport’s Get Rescued by sponsoring an individual animal rescue group for $50, which will include a prominent sign at that group’s Beach Blvd. booth during the event. Additionally, donations of merchandise or gift certificates for the silent & live auctions and chance drawings will be appreciated. Gulfport’s Get Rescued is proudly sponsored/co-sponsored by the City of Gulfport, The Gulfport Merchants Association, Chihuahua Connection Magazine, BellaDOG Magazine, BeachLife, Sail Away Realty, Karen’s Florist of Gulfport, The Gabber and more. The daytime event is FREE for the public to attend. For more information, visit www.GulfportMA.com or contact Suzanne King at 727-322-5217 / email SuzFest@gmail.com. June 02 - June 03, 2012
Chicago, Illinois, USA |
 |
|
|
Event Overview:
What makes the DoDivision Street Fest and Sidewalk Sale unique is that all elements of this festival are local: the food, the vendors, the music, even the featured beer is selected based on it’s popularity in the ‘hood. Given the status of West Division Street as the hottest, hippest most cutting edge neighborhood in Chicago, the events’ 60,000 attendees wouldn’t want this festival any other way but local.
The Do-Division Street Fest and Sidewalk Sale, located on Division between Ashland and Leavitt, spans 10 city blocks, features two live music stages, a wide variety of high quality food offered by Division Street restaurants, plenty of ice cold beer, unique kid’s activities, and an elaborate Sidewalk Sale put on by Division Street Merchants.
The 2010 talent line-up will be announced in late March, and will feature original, local entertainment of the highest quality.
Chicago’s hottest, hippest ’hood….
Division Street between Ashland and Leavitt is packed with trendy boutiques, salons, spas, restaurants, bistros, bakeries, coffee shops and cyber cafes. It’s wide, tree lined sidewalks give it a distinctly European feel. During warm weather months, there are as many as a dozen sidewalk cafes in operation. West Division Street’s restaurants and bars all have one thing in common: high quality in all price ranges. Division Street’s restaurant choices can satisfy any craving including Thai, Tapas, Shushi, organic pizza, comfort food, Mexican, Northern Italian and award winning fusion. And, from the ‘cheapest beers in Chicago’ to some of the best wine selections in the city, Division Street has plenty to offer imbibers. The Division Street area is also home to many of Chicago’s fashion designers, which may explain Division Street’s multitude of cutting edge, high quality dress and shoe boutiques.

West Fest
July 07 - July 08, 2012
Chicago, Illinois, USA |
 |
|
|
West Fest- local’s the thing!
If there is a street festival in Chicago that accurately reflects its surrounding community- West Fest would be it. ‘Urban sophistication’ is the watch phrase to describe this colorful, eclectic and lively event. West Fest is a two-day party that offers continuous high quality entertainment for kids, parents, young singles, and even pets. And just like the community it celebrates, there is nothing cookie-cutter about West Fest. Each element of the festival contains a local, home-grown element.
For starters- the music is produced by Empty Bottle Productions, a fact that guarantees a musical line-up that will thoroughly satisfy even the most cutting-edge of musical tastes –and one that will rival any festival in the city for sheer quality and imagination. In addition to the Empty Bottle Mainstage- there is a DJ Stage- produced by BassByThePound- possibly the world’s finest drum n’ bass DJ crew. Both stages are packed from the moment the festival opens until the last notes are played. Word about West Fest’s high quality music program has quickly spread-drawing attendees from all over the region and puts this festival on track to achieve legendary status.
The festival’s emphasis on ‘local’ and ‘unique’ is underscored by the variety of more than 80 neighborhood artists, restaurants and shops that set up booths to offer the best of West Town food and merchandise. Attendees from outside the area get a real sampling of all the treasures that this neighborhood has to offer.
Kids, pets and charity….
Just as West Fest enjoys it’s reputation for high quality, cutting edge musical entertainment, West Fest is also known, a bit incongruously, for its Kid Fest, a fest within a fest that offers a stage with continuous live kid-centric entertainment, pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting and more.
Other elements of West Fest that have become hugely popular are PetFest and PUPFest. These two ‘fests within a fest’ focus on urban pets. PetFest offers pet product vendors, canine bathing, and lots of pet activities with proceeds going to charity.
PUPFest (Protecting Urban Pets) is run by West Town’s own Doggy Style Pet Shop. PUPFest offers focuses on keeping the urban pet healthy, safe and happy. Proceeds benefit animal charities.Theme: Summer party!
Components:
• National music headliners on Mainstage produced by Empty Bottle Productions
• DJ Stage produced by BassByThePound

West Chicago Railroad Days
July 12 - July 15, 2012
West Chicago, Illinois, USA |
 |
|
|
A Wonderful Time Warp…...
The whole experience of West Chicago RR Days is like taking a backward trip on a time machine- a trip to a kinder, gentler, more innocent time and place- where kids are safe on the street, where everyone knows their neighbors, where the words ‘community’ and ‘neighborhood’ have real meaning, and where diversity is whole heartedly embraced and truly celebrated. In fact, a visit to this event can have the effect of renewing one’s faith in the ideal of small town America.
Railroad Days is the ultimate community festival- in which all forms of summer fun are featured- and the entire town participates. The event is going into its 39th year attracting more than 100,000 people over 4 days in July.
Railroad Days has a major draw for every age group- something for every member of the family- from toddlers to grandmothers- to thoroughly enjoy. The overview of Railroad Days is: great food, great, free live music, big summer fun, and huge community participation.
Railroad Days draws crowds from all over DuPage County and especially from the neighboring towns of Geneva, St. Charles, Elgin, Aurora and beyond.
Event demographics are one of the best features of this event: 50% general market/ 50% Hispanic middle income families. The Hispanic population is established and dates back 170 years. The Components:
Free Concerts Every Day…
The festival offers free concerts all four nights of the event featuring national music headliners augmented by some of the regions hottest local bands. Musical headliners such as Daryl Stuermer and Genesis , Lonnie Brooks, Molly Hatchet, Edgar Winter, the Buckinghams, Mickey Dolenz and Davey Jones and the Monkees, Peter Noone and Hermans Hermits, have packed the concert area year after.
Big Carnival…
The event puts on the largest and highest quality carnival in the area- covering more than 2 acres and featuring the latest rides and attractions including a special kids area.
The carnival area is packed from the moment the event opens until its closing minutes.
The Parade….
One of the biggest features of Railroad Days is it’s elaborate, colorful, and lively parade- which traditionally steps off at 1PM on Sunday winding through downtown and funneling into the event gates. More than 100 slots are filled.. and the entire community lines the parade route.
Fine Arts….
An art gallery, The Fine Arts Fiesta, made up of works by area artists, is hosted by the Reed Park Park District Building which is centrally located on the event site. Anyone, no matter what their training or skill, is invited to show a piece of their work and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three works in each category.
Beer Garden…
The event serves up it’s beer in an atmospheric beer garden patterned after the European tradition. The Beer Garden covers several acres and gives visitors a perfect setting to enjoy an ice cold beer with their neighbors on a hot summer evening.

Naperville Last Fling
August 31 - September 03, 2012
Naperville, Illinois, USA |
 |
|
|
In the event business, an insider term for a high quality event like Naperville’s Last Fling is ‘white glove’.
Naperville Last Fling is a four- day event of huge proportions that began as a small carnival 32 years ago, and is now the second largest event throughout Chicago’s entire collar county area, attracting more than 350,000 people over Labor Day Weekend, and delivering more than $1M back to the community over the past decade.
It’s also an event that makes the end of summer go down a whole lot easier for it’s throngs of attendees. In fact, this event manages to pack an entire summer’s worth of fun into four days– big, big fun for every family member from toddlers to grandparents. No matter what your age or what your particular brand of fun, you will more than likely find it at the Fling.
The Concerts:
Last Fling books big name, national and international music headliners every day of the festival. For the minimal ticket price of $15, attendees experience world class entertainment in a beautiful, pristine outdoor lawn setting. Big names such as Collective Soul, Blues Traveler, The Bodines, and Gavin McGraw have sold out the venue year after year and night after night. Fling organizers strive to ‘up the musical entertainment ante’ by bringing bigger and bigger name acts each year.
Although the Mainstage is where all the big name acts perform, the Fling also produces an ‘Entertainment Stage’ which offers excellent, top quality musical entertainment simultaneously to the Main Stage and, it’s free!
The Over-the-Top, Unique Family Funland:
Enter the term ‘White Glove’ again… for this is the best way to describe the Fling’s Family Funland. It’s a huge area packed with kid-centric fun. A popular component is the Midwest’s top ranked, high quality petting zoo that offers kids a chance to pet and get up close to exotic and common farm animals including a huge snake and giant rabbits. Another highlight of Family Funland is the unique Percussion Petting Zoo- a thrilling, interactive, percussion show for kids utilizing all manner of percussion including African drums, tambourines, maracas, inflatable bongos, and much more. Family Funland also features a huge chalkboard where kids can scribble and draw, craft tent activities, and a stage offering a steady line-up of quality kid-focused live entertainment. There will be many other unique activities and happenings at Family Funland soon to be announced. The Carnival:
Of course there has to be a carnival- and this one more than measures up to the Last Fling quality standard. It covers an entire city block- and features state of the art rides for all ages, as well as games of chance and skill and of course prizes.
Business Expo:
Last Fling produces a Business Exp which is centrally located and offers local, regional and national companies and brands the opportunity to market and promote themselves to this demographically desirable crowd.
