Description:
The 47th Annual Chula Vista Starlight Parade, presented by the Third Avenue Village Association and Pacific Trust Bank, will take place Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 6 pm, on Third Avenue between H and E Streets.
This annual event, themed “Festival of Lights,” is the largest nighttime parade in the South County, with over 5000 participants each year. Special features will include carolers, delightfully decorated floats, local school marching bands, and, of course, Santa Claus!
The Chula Vista Post Office will collect letters for Santa Claus along the parade route this year. All letters addressed to the North Pole that include a return address will be answered.
San Diego Gas & Electric will be exchanging incandescent holiday light strands (up to 3) for multi-colored LED holiday strands at Memorial Park from 2:30pm to 5:30pm; just bring a valid California ID and/or your SDG&E bill to participate.
Other events on Saturday, December 6, will include: the Children’s Holiday Festival in Memorial Park from 2:30 to 5:00 pm and the Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Memorial Park at 5:00 pm. Visit the spectacular sight of one of the tallest trees in San Diego County—a 47 foot-tall live holiday tree—and enjoy the sounds of the strolling holiday carolers before the parade kicks off at 6 pm.
