BorderFest
March 04 - March 07, 2010
Hidalgo, Texas, USA

The Hispanic population is one of the fastest growing and influential segments in the United States, attracting the interest of marketers across the country.

Tap into this ever-important segment of the population by partnering with an international award-winning festival in one of the top 10 Hispanic DMAs in the country...BORDERFEST in Hidalgo, Texas.

The historic city of Hidalgo is nestled along the banks of the Rio Grande River, just 5 miles from the Mexico border. Aside from being the point of entry for more than 52,000 daily visitors from Mexico, Hidalgo is part of a four-county stretch called the Rio Grande Valley, which is the 10th largest Hispanic DMA in the country. Our market boasts more than 2.8 million people (1.1 million in the Rio Grande Valley, and 1.7 million in the border towns of Mexico). The Valley's population is 86% Hispanic, and the median age is 27. Aside from this fixed population, the Rio Grande Valley also has a transient population of approximately 127,000 called Winter Texans. They are winter visitors from out of state whose average stay is 3.7 months, and whose return home generally occurs in late March or early April. These are the people, who comprise the Rio Grande Valley, and this remarkable area sets the stage for South Texas' oldest and largest cultural, heritage, and music festival called BorderFest.

Celebrating a 32-year tradition in South Texas, Hidalgo’s BorderFest celebrates a different country each year, incorporating the food, music, art, and entertainment of that country into the festival's theme. BorderFest has won many industry awards throughout the years, competing amongst such festivals and events as the Kentucky Derby Festival, the Portland Rose Festival, The Rose Parade, and Walt Disney events. BorderFest has competed and won top honors at both the state (Texas Festivals and Events Association) and international (International Festivals and Events Association) levels, establishing BorderFest as the premiere festival in the state of Texas and in the world (for our size and budget category of $250,000 - $750,000).

Aside from being recognized as the best festival overall, BorderFest has consistently won the gold in the areas of sponsorship and marketing, making its programs in those areas the industry standard in the state and in the world. Find out for yourself how BorderFest delivers over-the-top performance and high return on investment to its’ sponsors, and why BorderFest is recognized as having the best overall sponsorship program, the best sponsor, the best sponsor follow-up report, and the best media relations campaign in the business.

We invite you to be a part of BorderFest 2008, where we will salute China, bringing the culture and lore of the Far East to South Texas. Bring your brand to South Texas, too, and be a part of BorderFest’s success story!

In a land where bison once thundered across the prairie, modern-day cowboys rumble across the land on iron horses. Each August, hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists journey to the Mecca of the motorcycling world: Sturgis, South Dakota.

The legacy of the Sturgis Rally began in 1938 when J.C. "Pappy" Hoel, a local motorcycle shop owner, and some friends came up with the idea of holding a motorcycle race and stunt competition. The first event consisted of 19 racers at the half-mile track and some dangerous events such as board-wall crashes, ramp jumps and head-on collisions with cars.

Now, some 61 years later, it's the granddaddy of all motorcycle rallies and races. The small community of Sturgis has welcomed motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world for racing, tours of the beautiful Black Hills, concerts, trade shows and bike shows. It’s a week of fun and laughter and spending time with people who are as passionate about motorcycles as you are.

The Bureau, the official destination sales and marketing representative of the City of San Bernardino, created and owns the Route 66 Rendezvous name and registered trademark. Unlike many other special events and festivals, the Route 66 Rendezvous is not designed as a fund raising activity, but rather is economic development project. The SBCVB's primary objective is to create significant economic impact in the San Bernardino region through tourism by creating and producing innovative special events, like the Route 66 Rendezvous. The SBCVB has accomplished this goal. The first Rendezvous took place in 1990 at Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore with 300 vehicles and about 4,000 visitors enjoying the cars, a concert and a cruise down E Street in San Bernardino. In 1991, the event moved to the National Orange Show grounds and expanded with the help of the Over the Hill Gang car club. 1992 put the event on the map as a major celebration for nostalgia buffs nationwide. More than 700 vehicles filled downtown San Bernardino streets in celebration of the 66th anniversary of Route 66 "The Mother Road." The Rendezvous crowds have grown every year with the 2003 event drawing over 2,100 cars and over 550,000 spectators. The Cruisin' Hall of Fame® was inaugurated in 1995 with a painted wall outside City Hall to salute individuals, vehicles, auto industry luminaries and others who have contributed to the mystique of the "cruising" era. Four new honorees will be inducted into the Cruisin' Hall of Fame® this year. Need information about this year's Rendezvous, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
