Are you looking for fun for the whole family? Maybe you want an event that celebrates the best Flagler County has to offer. Well the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce with the help of citizens and Flagler County Parks & Recreation, are planning the inaugural Flagler County Creek Side Festival. The event will be held October 10 and 11, 2009 on the shores of Pellicer Creek at the Princess Place Preserve. The Creekside Festival will be two days of Florida heritage, great music, and activities for the entire family, a photo contest, story telling, kayak and walking tours, and an art and crafts fair. Children of all ages can participate in arts and crafts and games. Story telling, set on the front porch of the Lodge, will bring residents and visitors closer to the heritage of Flagler County and Northeast Florida. Tours of the Lodge and grounds of the Princess Place Preserve (by kayak and on foot) will engulf participants in the beauty and serenity the park has to offer. A raffle for a kayak, donated by Tropical Kayaks of Palm Coast, will also be part of the weekend activities, along with interpretive tours of the area’s wetlands. A highlight of the event is the photography contest offering $1400 in prize money including a $500 scholarship award. Entrees for the contest will be accepted until September 8, 2009. All levels of skill and talent are welcome to participate in the contest. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories, professional, amateur, and student. Proceeds from this event will go to aid in the preservation efforts for the Princess Place Preserve and the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce’s Building Fund.
