DescriptionThe popular bands, Los Originales de San Juan, Banda Pelillos and Caravanserai, performing the music of the legendary Santana, will appear at the 15th Annual Watsonville Strawberry Festival at Monterey Bay. In addition to these three outstanding bands, other yet to be announced musical acts will perform continuously throughout the festival on the main stage. Local musicians, dancers and other performers will be featured on the community stage.
A highlight of the festival will be “Strawberry Lane” featuring a variety of treats in which strawberries, provided by local growers, are the star ingredient. Strawberry shortcakes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, strawberry tamales, agua fresca de fresa, strawberry parfaits, fresh strawberries and other tasty strawberry delicacies will be offered by local non-profit organizations including the American Red Cross, Si Se Puede, the Watsonville Fly-in and Air Show Board, Loaves & Fishes, ISTW Charity and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. New this year, Freedom Rotary will host a beer and wine garden. In addition, many other vendors will offer a variety of arts & crafts and delicious foods and beverages, including the return of the famous strawberry pizza.
This family-oriented festival will also offer a variety of exciting activities for all ages. A carnival featuring a Ferris Wheel and Berry-Go-Round, among other rides, is sure to delight all, young and old. For those who are competitive eaters, several strawberry pie eating contests will take place during the festival. The Copa Fresa soccer tournament will draw adult soccer teams from throughout the Pajaro Valley. Finally, in honor of the farm workers who harvest the strawberries, the festival will feature strawberry packing contests with cash prizes.
PerformersCaravanserai, performing the music of the legendary Santana, Los Originales de San Juan, Banda Pelillos, Banda Santa Cruz, Mariachi California de Javier Vargas, No Respect, The Sledge Grits Band and Almost Chaos will perform at the festival. In addition, a variety of local musicians, dancers and other performers will appear on the community stage.
