CONSCIOUS CULTURE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES MUSIC LINE-UP
Headliners Include Academy Award-Winning Folk Legend Buffy Sainte-Marie
Tonasket, Wash., April 28, 2010 – The Conscious Culture Festival (CCF), set to premier June 11 and 12, today announced its final music lineup, which features highlight engagements from Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Buffy Sainte-Marie and Reggae music-elder Ras Michael. The CCF, produced by Okanogan Highlands Productions at the site of the popular Tonasket Barter Fair, is also announcing a 30% ticket discount until May 8, after which the two-day tickets will return to their original $76 price tag.
“The Conscious Culture Festival is authentic to the message I’ve been incorporating in my music for my entire career,” said Sainte-Marie, who recently lit the Olympic Torch during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. “I look forward to connecting with a like-minded audience – one that is truly aware of the daunting struggles to create a meaningful life amid todays issues.”
In addition to its headline acts, the CCF will feature Pacific Northwest musical favorites, such as: reggae world traveler Adrian Xavier the Panda Conspiracy Seattle’s new super-group Big High and the entire crew from Sick Donkey Records, including Jahson Ites, Essential I, Huckleberry and DJ Sticky. The Staxx Brothers, Harvey Swanson, Suriname reggae great Winstrong, Humboldt Countys Jah Sun, Sunz of Sound, NFL-player turned country singer Joe King, and many more local and regional acts round out the festival’s music lineup.
“Having Buffy Sainte-Marie and Ras Michael headline the CCF speaks volumes about the message we are trying to communicate,” says CCF producer BlueJay Hankins. “They embody the grassroots effort to recognize our world for what it is, and were once in the same position as many of the bands that round out the festival’s musical line-up.”
The CCF will feature more than just music. Festival goers will also be treated to: yoga instruction and workshops Native American dancers, drummers and storytellers a children’s village educational workshops speakers and fire dancers. Methow Valley Brewing Company, of Twisp, Wash., is planning to produce an exclusive, organic Festiv-Ale for the CCF, and organic wine is being provided by China Bend Vineyards, which will be available for sale in the festival beer gardens.
