With the Indianapolis 500-mile race as stage, the mission of the 500 Festival is to direct and produce events that will improve the quality of life for the citizens of Indiana and their guests. These events and programs, produced largely by volunteers, enhance the image of our city and state by showcasing to the rest of the world our cultural, educational and social benefits. On May 5, , the 500 Festival features the Indianapolis OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. On May 20, thousands of Indiana's children celebrate on the circle at the Bank One 500 Festival Rookie Run - It's Mini Mania for Kids. On May 23, the public can go behind the scenes at the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway during 500 Festival Community Day at the Track. On the 24th of May, families are invited to see the fabulous 500 Festival parade floats at the IPALCO 500 Festival Family Float Party. That night the best in black and white fashion will take center stage at the city's newest and most outrageous party- Floatacious! Powered by IPALCO. The day before the annual running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile-Race, the IPL 500 Festival Parade will make its way throughout the heart of downtown Indy. Award winning floats and performers will sparkle at this great event.
