The San Jose Holiday Parade has been recognized for more than 25 years as a downtown holiday spectacular. The international award-winning San Jose Holiday Parade tradition began in 1981 when Santa Claus rode in a horse-drawn carriage to the park for the opening of the Christmas in the Park display at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in Downtown San José and it has become a very important part of the community and businesses. The parade has helped people rediscover the Downtown’s museums, restaurants, shops, and activities.
