Fountain Hills Fine Art & Wine AffaireFountain Hills, Arizona, USA
Mid March
DescriptionThunderbird Artists, the leading producer of fine art and wine events in the Southwest, is happy to have romantic air-brush surrealist, Paul Sloan, as the featured artist for the 9th Annual Fountain Hills Fine Art & Wine Affaire, March 15th, 16th & 17th, 2013. The festival couples superior art and fine crafts with robust, imported and domestic wines, delectable food, flavorful chocolate and live musical entertainment!
Paul Sloan began his art career at Virginia Tech, with a background in illustration. His work incorporates acrylic, pencil and air-brush for gradients. His sketches are projected onto hot-pressed watercolor paper, with layers of matte sprayed over the painted surface, allowing a texture suitable for incorporating different medias. He utilizes many hidden elements and adjoining panels, to create a romantically, whimsical composition that engages the viewers own imagination. Because his pieces begin with a concept and the techniques are chosen in that pursuit, his visions appear eclectic, though they incorporate a common thread.
In addition to the works of Paul Sloan, this juried festival hosts more than 125 nationally acclaimed, award-winning artists from throughout the country and abroad in addition to unparalleled wine tasting. For $10 patrons receive an engraved souvenir wine glass, with tasting tickets, allowing them to taste wines from throughout the United States and beyond. This unique event brings together fine art, wine tasting, savory food, mouthwatering sweets and live musical entertainment - featuring Scott Helmer and Jeffrey Michael.
This event is located in the home to One of the worlds tallest fountains, Fountain Hills. At full power, the fountain rises 560 feet into the air and runs for approximately 15 minutes at the top of the hour, from 10a.m. to 9p.m. daily and on March 17th, the fountain will be dyed emerald green in celebration of St. Patrick’s day.
