The Ocean County Library, in partnership with the Pinelands Photography Group will host Pinelands Day for the first time at the Toms River Library, 101 Washington Street, on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Pinelands Day will look at the ecology and folklore of the Pinelands and provide information and awareness of the recreational opportunities to enjoy this landscape near and dear to residents and visitors.
Tours featuring the works of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance Photography Group will be conducted throughout the day. Paul Pederson, author of The Legendary Pine Barrens: New Tales From Old Haunts will provide an author talk and book signing. Workshops take place throughout the building and Jakes Branch County Park will also provide a children’s progam.
Exhibitors of the informational fair include environmental and cultural groups, as well as recreational clubs such as The Pinelands Preservation Alliance, Barnegat Bay Partnership, Well Mills County Park, Jakes Branch County Park, Boy Scouts of America Jersey Shore Council and Girls Scouts of the Jersey Shore to name a few.
