Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA
Thirty-six years ago, the Fond du Lac Convention and Visitors Bureau put in a bid for the Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament hoping to build a festival around it. Today, Walleye Weekend has grown into one of Wisconsin’s premier events, luring more than 100,000 people to Lakeside Park over three days with its extensive family entertainment, national and local music acts, sporting events and hundreds of other attractions.
Admission, parking and shuttles for the yearly celebration is completely free to the public, including all attractions and entertainment, making it a unique festival of its kind. The success of Walleye Weekend can be attributed to the support of the community, local businesses and non-profit organizations.
