For those who have been longing to visit the alluring, but forbidden Caribbean Island just 90 miles from our shore, The Cuban Festival is the next best thing. Organized by the CEO of an event production company, who is the son of Cuban immigrants, The Cuban Festival is a ’white glove’, high quality, authentic Cuban experience that features the best of this rich, colorful and lively culture. The Cuban Festival is the largest Cuban cultural event in the USA.
Most North and Central Americans born in this century have never had the ‘Cuban experience’, a fact that may be part of the reason that this event draws audience from all over the USA, Central America and even the Caribbean, and why it is packed from the moment it opens until it’s last minutes before closing.
120,000 + people attend the event and although the event audience is skewed to Chicago’s Cuban population, a large percentage of the festival crowd are General Market and Hispanics of other cultures.
All the best of what the Cuban people love and are known for are represented at this festival…..and the entertainment is a major draw. Live music is always exciting, but Cuban music is something apart- evidenced by the huge flag-waving, dancing, joyful, and very enthusiastic crowds.
The Cuban Festival Mainstage features a line up of Grammy winning and Grammy nominated headliners who play to a packed crowd. The Mainstage music line-up includes Salsa, Salsa, Son, Guaracha, Rumba, timba, and guajira offering high quality music for every taste and yet still retaining the Cuban flavor.
Speaking of flavor, the Cuban people are known for their delicious cuisine and every Cuban restaurant in Chicago takes a booth at the festival. Visitors can sample and choose from authentic Cuban offerings such as frijoles negros, Ropa Vieja, Cuban sandwich, Lechon, Arroz con pollo, and Picadillo just to name a few. But Cuban food isn’t the only cuisine available- there are also Puerto Rican, Mexican, Columbian and American dishes to chose from.
Adding to the Cuban experience is an elaborate Domino Tournament, a Kids Conga Drum Circle and workshop, and intermittent and spontaneous salsa, cha cha and rhumba dances.
Everything about this festival is quality: quality production, quality entertainment and quality food - a truly unique celebration.
