Womens Red Rock Music Festival

Womens Red Rock Music Festival
Torrey, Utah, USA
Early August
Description
What happens when you combine magnificent red-rock scenery, amazing new music, and the untiring energy of a small group of women? Answer: The Women’s Redrock Music Festival at Robber’s Roost Bookstore in Torrey, Utah. On August 9 and 10, the 7th annual festival will draw those of us who love music by women to Torrey for an extraordinary weekend. Torrey—a town of fewer than 200 people—welcomes over 600 festival volunteers and attendees. The townthe entire countyis energized as the festival has become the most profitable weekend of the year for Wayne County. The festival organizers have worked hard to involve local businesses and volunteers. Last year, the Torrey city council displayed “Welcome to Torrey, Women’s Redrock Music Festival” banners all along Main Street. At almost 7,000 feet elevation, Torreys August afternoons and evenings are perfect for sitting under the cottonwoods and enjoying music by independent musicians. The festival’s motto is “Music BY Women FOR Everyone,” and the organizers see the Festival as a gift to everyone involved. The Women’s Redrock Music Festival gives musicians, from all over, a setting to perform in beautiful Southeastern Utah. Their positive experience at past festivals has created a great reputation for RWMF, which draws new performers and more attendees each year. The day and a half festival offers (along with over 15 hours of music) song writing workshops, yoga booths with art, music, and massage guided hikes and star gazing fine food and drinks and on Saturday afternoon, a locals’ farmer’s market. Both Friday and Saturday nights offers an“After Party” at the Saddlery Cowboy Bar and Steakhouse where the music will continue long after the festival shuts down. Visitors also can visit the art galleries and stores in Torrey as well as venture into Capitol Reef National Park for quiet and solitude. The Festival offers a gift for all of us by bringing music that we might not otherwise encounter. If you havent attended this womens festival, you need to get it on your summer schedule.
