Lewes, United Kingdom - England
Mid July
Lewes’ music festival Rock in the Bog has undergone a facelift and re-branding for 2014, and returns on the 11th and 12th of July under the new name LEWESLIVE. Having been running now for 9 years the event has undergone many changes, not least of which being the more diverse range of musical genres, and organisers recognise that the previous name no longer truly reflects the aim or content of the event. Previously likened to the early days of Glastonbury, the two day event aims to this year offer the same great quality and atmosphere, but to be the biggest and best yet. To celebrate the re-launch, popular American Rockgrass band ‘Hayseed Dixie’ has been booked to play the headline slot on Saturday night. Hayseed Dixie began in 2000 with the release of their first album, A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC. The band performs a mixture of cover versions of hard rock songs and original compositions in a style that is a unique fusion of bluegrass and rock music and are acknowledged as the creators of the musical genre “rockgrass”. They regularly tour across the USA and Europe, and have played over 1000 live gigs in the last 13 years. This includes a previous sell out appearance at Lewes’ guitar festival in 2006, their one and only performance in the town to date. Their appearance at LEWESLIVE will be their only performance in the Sussex, Surrey and Kent area this summer, and is not to be missed. In addition to Hayseed Dixie, LEWESLIVE will include ten other bands and artists performing over the two days, family attractions, food providers, licensed bars, and free weekend camping for all ticket holders. Only limited tickets are available for the event, full details of which are available at www.leweslive.com
