66th Aldeburgh FestivalSnape, United Kingdom - England
6/7/2013 - 6/23/2013
DescriptionThe 66th Aldeburgh Festival is at the centre of Aldeburgh Music’s yearlong celebration of a great composer and visionary, our founder Benjamin Britten. This is a chance to encounter Britten and his remarkable legacy in ways you simply won’t find anywhere else.
There will be iconic performances of Peter Grimes in the location that inspired it and The Church Parables in their original venue an insight into our year-long Friday Afternoons singing project highlighting Britten’s pioneering work with children and amateurs and our Inspired by Britten series showcasing his ever-widening cultural influence, featuring over
20 commissions across different musical genres and art-forms.
Britten wanted Aldeburgh to be about much more than just his music, so amongst a myriad of other events, you will be able to hear Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s Bach and the transcendental music of a modern master, Jonathan Harvey.
Join us on the Suffolk coast for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of a major British cultural icon.
