<>Party on the PlazaHouston, Texas, USA
Late May
DescriptionParty on the Plaza, known to its fans as POP, is Houston’s most successful and recognized concert series in downtown. Held in the heart of Houston’s famous theater district, Party on the Plaza has featured some of today’s top stars in Latin music on Tuesday and Wednesday nights during the spring, summer and fall for the past 15 years.
As an entertaining musical and cultural event, Party on the Plaza was established to raise money for scholarship programs and local charities. To date, Party on the Plaza has raised over $350,000 for The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, The Texas Hispanic Peace Officers Association, The University of Houston Downtown, The Houston Salsa Dancers and other local Hispanic charities.
Party on the Plaza provides the surrounding Hispanic communities near downtown a place to gather with friends and family to listen to live music, to connect with other fans in an open social space, to celebrate their culture and heritage and to share the Party on the Plaza experience that makes it the most anticipated event of the year.
Now entering its 16th season and a new decade, Party on the Plaza will be given a makeover with a new look, new date, new location and new format to attract a broader target audience.
1. Party on the Plaza will change from a weekly concert series to a monthly concert series.
2. Party on the Plaza will move from Tuesday and Wednesday to the last Thursday of each month.
3. Party on the Plaza will move from Jones Plaza to the newly built Discovery Green Park.
4. Party on the Plaza will mix today’s new music with a rhythmic spice to its format.
With today’s new taste in music and to meet the entertainment needs of our Hispanic community, it has become necessary to make Party on the Plaza a family-oriented event free to the public for of all ages, instead of being a party-driven event only open to 21 and up fans that drink alcohol.
Party on the Plaza will also team up with new media partners in radio. In addition to Univision Radio, who have been a long time media partner, Party on the Plaza will reach out to radio stations that plays today’s new music such as Houston’s Hot Hits station 95.7 FM.
Party on the Plaza has limited sponsorship opportunities available for companies seeking to increase their exposure and to promote their brand, product or service to bicultural Hispanics who love music and the companies that represent their music.
