St. Patricks Day Parade & Faire

This year, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee honors heroes, including the firefighters who died in the Yarnell Hill fire. The 2014 Irish Persons of the Year are John McMorrow, a firefighter and Matthew Shay, a police officer. Fox 10 anchor Ron Hoon is this year’s Grand Marshall and Cory McCloskey, also from Fox 10, is the announcer.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. March 15 on Third Street at Sheridan Street (south of Thomas Road) and travels south to McDowell Road. The parade will include five Irish step-dancing groups, the Arizona Irish Colleen and her court, Scottish bag pipe performers, school bands and more than 10 floats.
The fair starts at 10 a.m. and features three stages of music plus crafters, entrance to the McClelland Irish Library, a kid’s area and more. It takes place in Margaret Hance Park, west of the Irish Cultural Center, 1106 N. Central Ave. Free parking at the garage at 1850 N. Central Ave.
Admission to the fair is $10 for those 13 and older, $8 military and seniors 55 and older and free for children 12 and younger.
