DescriptionSt. Patrick’s Day Parade Celebrates 30th Anniversary
The 30th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. March 16 at Third and Sheridan Streets (south of Thomas Road) and moves south to McDowell Road. The event features Irish dancers, bagpipers, the 2013 Arizona Irish Colleen and more. The parade is partnering with Ireland. The theme is “The Gathering 2013: Back to our roots and traditions.”
Irish-born Bob Smith, president and CEO of Alliance Beverage Distributing Company, is the parade grand marshal. Mary Moriarty and her husband, Jack, are Irish Persons of the Year.
The Irish Faire, a family event with Irish music, dancers, food, and crafters, starts at 10 a.m. in Margaret Hance Park, adjacent to the Irish Cultural Center, 1106 N. Central Ave. The new McClelland Irish Library features the famous “Fighting Irishmen” boxing exhibit through May.
