The festival will feature a range of free events open to the public, including the Opening Worship Service at the Congo Legacy Center on August 20th, led by Bishop Charles L. Amos of St. Paul UAME Church. A Wreath Laying Ceremony honoring Rev. Peter Spencer will follow at Peter Spencer Plaza.
"Incorporating Faith: Celebrating the Enduring Legacies of Black Placemaking" is a notable event on August 21st, featuring interdenominational dialogues with current leaders of historic Black Churches. Revivals Services will take place on August 22nd and 24th at various Church locations in Wilmington, offering opportunities for spiritual reflection.
Family & Community Day, "Press On, Peter!" will be held on August 25th at the Delaware History Museum, celebrating the legacy of Peter Spencer through a dramatic presentation. The Liberation Fest Conference on August 26th at the Brandywine Plaza Hotel will focus on community-related lectures and displays, while Youth Day at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park will engage young attendees with activities and a concert by Zak Williams & 1 Akord.
The festival will conclude with the August Quarterly Worship Service on August 27th at the Congo Legacy Center, featuring Rev. Dr. Willie L. Francois, III and the “Big Quarterly" on August 28th at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park which will offer a vibrant celebration with community displays, art exhibitions, and captivating performances by nationally recognized artists Russell Delegation and the Wilmington Chester Mass Choir.
