Cotton has significantly shaped the history of Texas. In Burton, located halfway between Houston and Austin on Highway 290, you’ll find the 1914 Burton Farmers Gin, the oldest operating cotton gin in America. While the surrounding fields may no longer be blanketed with cotton bolls, we remain dedicated to preserving this rich heritage for future generations. Join us as we celebrate this history at the 36th Annual Burton Cotton Gin Festival on Saturday, April 26th, 2025.
This delightful small-town Texas festival is FREE and family-friendly, featuring a parade, live music, contests, games, arts and crafts, tasty food and drinks, an antique tractor pull, an engine show, and classic cars on display.
Enjoy guided tours of the Gin from 11 AM to 2 PM, and at 3 PM, watch the 1914 Burton Farmers Gin in action as it processes a bale of cotton. We will also celebrate the 100th birthday of “Lady B” our gin engine with a special treat at 2 PM.
