The 3rd Annual (Neighbor) Hood Fest focus is on building unity and attracting visitors by exploring the history of the city of Baton Rouge and Louisiana’s unique and diverse cultural communities. It also has a film component that takes a look at industries and adventures offered in the state. The festival has music and films, a Vendor Village and food court. A Hot Dog Eating Contest is also a part of the festival and there’s a children’s area. Musical talent to date includes Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, Ervin Foster and the My Better Half Band, King Solomon Willis, (Louisiana) Claude Hitt, Dixie Rose and David Comeaux. The film component this year focuses on industries and adventure in Louisiana, with filmmakers Oscar Tickle and Charles Bush, who have produced The Search for “Swamp Cows,” “Shrimp Gate” and “Music Dreams, An American Story.” These documentaries are followed by Q&A’s. A Pre-party will be held on Thursday, July 16 from 7:00pm to midnight at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room located at 2733 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Cost is $30.00 and includes a buffet. No host bar. It is a sneak peek at some of the talent that will be performing at the Main Festival on Saturday.
