This year there’s a very special performance by David Hall, the creator of the category for Marathon Whistling in Guinness World Records and holder of the US title for 40 years. David whistles show tunes, TV themes, and popular songs. Also, there will be an array of music from Cecilia St. King-inner peace troubadour, and Pink Slip Duo – playing US folk music, the South Florida Taiko Dojo - playing huge Japanese drums, Carol Garrett singing Jewish songs, special abilities performers- The Spotlighters, and others. All performances take to the stage in 15-minute intervals treating the attendees to a vast range of cultural experiences all day long.
The food tastes are free again this year and provided by over a dozen generous restaurants including –Thai Ziree, Bud’s Chicken, Anthony’s Wood Fired Pizza, and caterers A Taste of Africa, Spanish Paella, Haitian Goldstein’s, and Arms of Hope. In addition, over 50, not for profit interactive and merchandise booths offer artwork, clothing, and jewelry for sale. Kids will find arts projects and activities such as puppet making with a puppet stage, creating images of their families that connect to others on a mural, and paper Peace Crane folding. Adults enjoy the Issues Mural where they identify issues important to them, and selfies taken with the hand painted APD life size cultural figures. Prizes donated by local artists and businesses will be raffled off throughout the day as well, so there’s something for everyone.
Prior to all this, a free workshop from 9:30am to 11:00 am will teach young children to make the Craft Dough People, graphically illustrating that all people are made from the same materials and should therefore be treated with equal respect. Pre-registration for the workshop is open to the first 30 kids, age’s four to eleven, who sign-up by calling (561) 495-9818. A packaged craft kit, based on this project, is available for a donation.
