Alton Hampshire is hosting its first ever pride event, with the help of local charity organisation, “Trans Joy Network.” Alton Hampshire welcomes Pride Month this year with a vibrant festival brimming with love and community. We can expect to see local artists, small businesses and indie shops making their appearances in the Alton Public Gardens with support for their local LGBTQ+ community. Fresh BBQ food can be bought across the venue, as well as fresh coffee and ice cream! Perfect for your mid summer afternoon. Starting off with a bang, the pride parade will accumulate on Butts Field on the morning of the event, in preparation for its march. The group will make its unapologetic journey along Butts Road, decorated with colour and music, bringing the beauty of pride to the townsfolk. The ceremony within the venue will begin with a heartfelt speech from local queer advocates, following the arrival of the Pride Parade. At this time, attendees will be offered an opportunity to share their own experiences and what pride means to them. Live music will then commence, feeding life into the festival, as your local beloved businesses such as, “So Lush”, “Goldfinch Books”, and, “Shrunken Head Inc.”, open their stalls for business. You can also find other informational stalls hosted by our partnering LGBTQ+ charities and organisations who are eager to support and educate the attendees with any queries they may have. As the evening draws to a close, attendees are invited to join us at Cassidy’s bar for a pint and a late-night drag show from our iconic local drag queens. This event sings of an exciting new era of queer solidarity between its council and its community. We can positively say that this will mark a positive historic landmark in the town’s lore as its first LGBTQ+ allied celebration as it demonstrates dedication and solidarity from the town’s council to its LGBTQ+ neighbours.
