Rumi’s spiritual journey finds new expression in Indian music, poetry and dance, with the London Sitar Ensemble.
The 13th-century mystic Jelaluddin Rumi is still one of the most popular poets in the world.
His writings are brought to life by sitarist Sanjay Guha (a disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar) and readings of poems.
In this performance, the rhythms of music and poetry are accompanied by dancers.
Saleel Tambe joins on the tabla.
Improvisations on the sitar are interspersed with short readings of poems and songs by Shaheen Chino Khan and flute playing by Robin Christian.
