North Carolina violinist/fiddler Andrew Finn Magill is returning to The Old Theater in Oriental after a very successful show in August that left the audience blown away by the musical finesse of three musicians in Fogo no Trio. On October 20, the award-winning and highly esteemed violinist is bringing more friends to the stage for an afternoon of Brazilian choro music in Canta, Violino! Joining Finn is Brazilian-born Cesar Garabini on the 7-string guitar and Clarice Cast, a multi percussionist from Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2016, Finn lived in Rio De Janeiro where he studied choro music and founded several Brazilian musical groups, one of them being Canta, Violino! Join us for an afternoon of Brazilian choro delight.
Andrew Finn Magill is a Fulbright Fellow, a South Arts Emerging Traditional Artist, a North Carolina Arts Council Fellow, and All-Ireland Fiddle finalist. He has been featured on MTV-U, PBS, and multiple times on NPR. His 2016 album, Roots, debuted at number #46 on the folk DJ charts. Finn grew up in western NC studying Irish, old-time, and bluegrass playing with dozens of the best fiddlers in the world. Finn currently tours with friends featuring his original acoustic music.
Tickets may be available at the Box Office on the day of the performance. Complimentary tickets need to be exchanged for regular tickets at Nautical Wheelers to ensure seating in the event of a sold-out show.
Box Office opens one hour before the performance; doors open 30 minutes before the show. Wine and soft drinks will be available by donation.
