AUDITIONS - Seussical the Musical

Auditions To Take Place Thursday, February 13th for adults 18+ and Saturday, February 15th for children with callbacks by invitation only on Saturday, February 15th at 4:30PM.

Star of the Day announces auditions for their Spring Musical Production of Seussical the Musical on Thursday, February 13th from 6:30-9:30PM for adults ages 18 and older and Saturday, February 15th from 2-4PM for children ages 8-17. The callbacks will be by invitation only on Saturday, February 15th at 4:30PM. The production's creative team includes Director Parker Ryan, Music/Orchestra Director Phillip Wallens, Choreographer Kirsten Almeida, and Stage Manager Marissa Brewer. Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical, is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination - Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphantly.
Seussical is fun for the whole family! Performers of all ages will be excited to portray the characters from the familiar Dr. Seuss fables.

To prepare for the audition: Adults should sing 16-32 bars of a comedic musical theatre song. Please avoid Sondheim. Music must be printed in the correct key. There will be an accompanist provided. No a cappella singing. Songs should be memorized. Please bring comfortable shoes and clothes to change into for a movement call following the vocal audition. Callbacks will be by invitation only based on your initial audition. Understudies will be considered.
Children should prepare their choice of the songs provided on the audition page of our website www.StaroftheDay.org/auditions.html. Music should be memorized. They will be singing with a piano player. No tracks allowed. Please bring comfortable clothes and shoes for a brief movement call following the vocal audition. Callbacks are by invitation only based on the initial audition.
