Bear Aware on Mother's Day at the Zoo + Artisans Market

Bring mom to the Alaska Zoo this Mother's Day, May 11th, for our annual Bear Aware Event with FREE ENTRY for moms, plus a special Artisan Market with local vendors ready to sell you a perfect bonus gift for mom. The Market will be in the Gateway Hall from 12-6pm and all other activities will be on zoo grounds. We have bear resistant container testing with the black bears at 1pm, the polar bears at 2pm and the brown bears at 3pm. Visitors will love observing how smart the bears are, plus we will do some live broadcasts on Facebook. You can also tune in to watch the Polar Bear Camera at 2pm AKT. The event will also feature booths, information on how to be bear aware this summer, a bear spray station, and food by Yeti Dogs. The Kape Espresso Tayo Coffee Shop and the Zoo Gift Shop will also be open for business. Take mom out for a day she will always remember and buy her that extra gift, delicious drink and good food. Other event features are cotton candy for sale, petting zoo, mascots on the trails and fun animal enrichment by zookeepers throughout the day. Treat the moms in your life like queens this Mother's Day!
