Morristown, TN – Rose Center & Council for the Arts invites the community to experience the second annual Between the Lakes Blues Festival on Saturday, May 31, from 12 PM to 6 PM in downtown Morristown. This family-friendly outdoor event will feature live Blues performances, artisan vendors, children’s activities, and local craft brews from 1907 Brewing Company poured all day.
The music lineup kicks off at 12:00 PM with Knoxville’s Mt. Olive Pleasure Club, bringing an energetic fusion of Jump Blues, Swing, Zydeco, and R&B. At 1:30 PM, Billy Crawford and Doublin’ Down take the stage. Then at 3:00 PM, Chicago-based Maurice John Vaughn brings his signature blend of Blues, soul, and funk. Closing the festival at 4:30 PM is Mississippi Heat, a world-renowned Chicago Blues band led by harmonica master Pierre Lacocque.
Handmade artisan vendors include Kris Banas (acrylic fluid art), Kathy Baum (mixed media), Jim Beelaert (hummingbird homes), Toni Begley (crochet plushies, polymer clay earrings, resin keychains), Hope & Thrive Academy (handmade crafts by students), Teresa Brabston (handmade purses and makeup bags), Vicki Cowan (goat milk products), Tammy Dickson (toffee-covered pretzels), Brittany Fletcher (crochet plushies), Steve Hardison (wood crafts), Jessica Klok (permanent jewelry), Kevin Kitts (horseshoe art), Karen Lawson (crystal sun catchers, beaded jewelry, and macramé), James Milligan (roots- and folk-inspired instruments), Susan Morey (herbal remedies), Teryl Norris (fresh flower arrangements), Don Strong (wind chimes and jewelry from silverplate flatware), and Shannon Whaley (wooden birdhouses). 1907 Brewing Company will be onsite to keep attendees refreshed with a selection of local craft beverages. Festival tickets are $10 in advance at rosecenter.org or Eventbrite, and $15 at the gate. Children 12 and under are free, courtesy of Visions By Vicki. This event is made possible thanks to the generous support of sponsors including the Tennessee Arts Commission, East Tennessee Foundation, Smoky Mountain Blues Society, 1907 Brewing Company, Marvin Windows and Doors, Morristown Tire and Performance, Quality Waste, and many others. Lakeway Transport/ETHRA will provide free shuttle service from downtown parking lots and the Farmers Market lot to Rose Center between 11 AM and 5 PM.
