The Black Futures Festival is a city wide three day immersive experience introducing the concepts of Black Speculative Art and Afrofuturism through a thrilling interactive multi-location event series that teaches, explains and explores various topics representing different positions that integrate African diasporic worldviews with art and music, science and technology, economics, politics, and more. The festival seeks to interpret, engage, design or alter reality for the re-imagination of the past, the contested present, and to act as a catalyst for the future. Themes explored include but are not limited to: Afrofuturism, Astro Blackness, Afro-Surrealism, Ethno-Gothic, Black Digital Humanities, Black (Afro-future female or African Centered) Science Fiction, The Black Fantastic, Magical Realism, and The Esoteric. With a unique and pioneering approach to standard festivals, The Black Futures Festival will bring all of us together to celebrate and experience exciting expositions and exhibitions curated to explore, interpret and analyze the African Diaspora worldview and imagination of its historical past, current present and our collective futures. *******Please register to receive updates and information about the events and programming scheduled to take place during the festival. There will be BOTH in-person activities online virtual events for participants to enjoy. It is FREE to register for access to the schedule.
