Black Towns of Oklahoma Bike Tour September 21, 2024
The second annual Black Towns of Oklahoma Bike Tour supports the communities that we visit, the Major Taylor Cycling Club and The Community Light Foundation.
This event was amazing. The interaction between cyclists and the townspeople was magical. The townspeople shared the history of their community. The cyclists visited the post office of Tullahassee, the community center of Red Bird, and the fire station of Taft getting a history lesson while eating watermelon and pound cake. What a great day on the bike.
Rentiesville and Summit with be added making for a 105-mile route. There is more great history in Rentiesville. The Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame and the Honey Springs Battlefield a great Civil War battle was decided at Honey Springs in July 1863.
