Haunted House Sets Goal to Collect 1,000 Pints in Two Nights — Enough to Fill a Bathtub and Save 3,000 Lives

On October 11 and October 26, Sacramento Scream Park (along with two other locations) will host an on-site blood drive with Vitalant — and not just for fun. The park has set an audacious, borderline unhinged goal:“We want to collect 1,000 pints of blood in two nights,” said Nathan Polanco, founder of Sacramento Scream Park. “That’s enough to fill an entire bathtub — and help save up to 3,000 lives. Who says horror can’t have heart?”

To sweeten the deal, the park is offering a blood-soaked bonus:The first 20 donors each night get Immediate Admission — skipping all lines. All other donors receive a free Fast Pass upgrade

The idea was born from a twisted sense of justice, Polanco says:“Every October, people line up to watch chainsaws and monsters. Why not line up to actually help someone? We figured — if we're going to bleed, let's make it count.”Vitalant’s mobile blood bus will be parked on-site and open throughout the evenings. No reservations required. Must be 16+ to donate with ID and consent (or 18+ without).  The Bloodiest Haunted House in America?

While most haunted attractions focus on screams, Sacramento Scream Park hopes to set a new kind of record — blending horror theatrics with humanitarian impact.“This is either the dumbest or the most brilliant thing we’ve ever done,” said Polanco. “But we’re doing it. And if we can fill a bathtub with blood and save 3,000 lives doing it? I’ll lie down for that.”
