Festival Details - "Burns Night Supper"...
Start: Saturday, January 18, 2025 5:00PM
End: Saturday, January 18, 2025 9:15PM
You are invited to the Shasta Celtic Society’s 27th Burns Night Supper, for a celebration of the life of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns!
There will be toasts, speeches, poetry readings and singing; along with piping, the parading of the Haggis, and musical entertainment—all done in high Scots style.
This year’s theme is "The Charm of Robbie" reflecting upon his romantic style of writing and his life. In his short life Robert Burns wrote so many poems and songs that made us think about life, laugh, and love; so important in his time and ours!
We will bring Scotland to Shasta County and follow the traditional Burns Night style started centuries ago by a group of Robbie’s friends. This rip-roaring celebration will indulge in a traditional feast of haggis with neeps and tatties, and a full buffet dinner held at the Grand Chieftain Hall on January 18th at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Redding.
As we raise a glass to Robbie Burns, we are proud to announce a Scotch Tasting Experience featuring “A Tour of Scotland’s Single Malt Whisky,” featuring four of over 150 whisky distilleries in Scotland from three of the five regions: Highland, Lowland, Speyside, Islay and Campbeltown - according to the geographical location of the distillery in which it is made.
The tasting tour will begin with a trip to the Highlands to taste the “Golden Dram” Aberfeldy 12 yr, then to Campbeltown on Scotland’s western coast for Glen Scotia 15 yr. Next we will travel to northeastern Scotland Speyside region for the final two tastes of our adventure and enjoy The Macallan 15 yr double cast and Glenfiddich 21 yr old.
Whether you have Scottish heritage or just appreciate a great time with old and new friends come join us and celebrate the Shasta Celtic Society’s Burns Night Supper! Don't forget to wear your tartan and bring your best Scottish accent! It's a night you don't want to miss! LAST YEAR WE SOLD OUT EARLY!
