The Howard University Hospital Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health invites you to join us for our 2nd Annual Mental Health Awareness Fair. This year’s theme, “Care for the Culture: Mental Health Awareness for Us, by Us,” fosters a day of healing, connection, and empowerment rooted in community and cultural pride.
This free, family-friendly event is designed to celebrate and support the mental and physical wellness of our community—because our wellness matters, and it's up to us to prioritize it. The fair will offer free medical and mental health screenings, with clinicians available on-site to answer questions and connect you to care, ensuring you're caring for your whole self.
Enjoy a vibrant atmosphere filled with music, movement, and mindfulness, including Zumba, a healing hub, and a community drum circle. Reconnect with your creative side through expressive arts and crafts, and experience the power of rhythm and healing with music therapy activities. A local therapy dog will also be present to bring warmth and joy throughout the day. There will also be raffles throughout the day, giving you a chance to win fun and useful prizes while you explore resources and activities.
Explore a wide range of community resources, connect with others, and celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of Black mental health. Whether you're seeking support, resources, or simply a sense of belonging, we’re here to help you care for yourself—and each other.
