CAREFREE, Ariz. — The Carefree Bourbon and Cigar Festival is returning for its second year, bringing together spirits, cigars, food and a charitable mission in the Sonoran Desert. The 2nd Annual Carefree Bourbon and Cigar Festival will take place March 20-22, transforming downtown Carefree into a gathering place for spirit enthusiasts, cigar aficionados and newcomers looking to sample, socialize and support a local cause. The event is created and hosted by Larry Foppe, owner of Sticks Cigar Lounge, who said the festival celebrates fine cigars, spirits and local cuisine while giving back to the community. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Foothills Food Bank, a nonprofit serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in Carefree, Cave Creek and nearby communities. Foppe said partnering with the organization was a priority. “This festival is about more than bourbon and cigars,” Foppe said. “It’s about bringing people together and supporting the community that makes Carefree such a special place. Being able to contribute to Foothills Food Bank gives the event real purpose.” Attendees can expect a curated selection of adult beverages from a range of distilleries, with an emphasis on giving local and regional producers the first opportunity to participate. The tasting experience is designed to appeal to both seasoned bourbon drinkers and those new to the category. Cigars will remain a central focus of the festival, with premium cigar brands and knowledgeable representatives available to discuss blends and pairing recommendations. Designated cigar lounges and outdoor smoking areas will allow guests to relax and enjoy their cigars. The festival will also feature a variety of local food vendors highlighting the region’s culinary scene. Offerings will range from elevated comfort food to gourmet selections designed to pair well with both spirits and cigars. A variety of ticket packages will be available, including general admission and VIP options. Many packages include complimentary cigars and drink samples, allowing guests to experience the festival throughout the three-day event. Representatives from Foothills Food Bank said partnerships like this play a vital role in supporting their mission. Proceeds from the festival will help fund food distribution programs serving thousands of residents each year. “As the festival enters its second year, I hope it continues to grow thoughtfully, much like a well-aged bourbon, gaining depth, character and meaning with time,” Foppe said.
