CASTLE ROCK BAND CELEBRATES MEMORIAL WEEKEND WITH FREE CONCERT MAY 25

The Castle Rock Band and American Legion Post #1187 are back for their traditional Memorial Weekend concert on Saturday, May 25th, 2:00 pm at Festival Park in Castle Rock. The performance of patriotic music, an annual tradition, will feature a flag ceremony by the American Legion. The band's musical selections include John Williams' "Hymn to the Fallen" from "Saving Private Ryan," and "Armed Forces Salute," a medley of songs arranged by Bob Lowden representing the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.

All Castle Rock Band concerts are presented free of charge as a service to the community. The public is invited to the event, which will be held in beautiful Festival Park on Perry Street at Second Street. Convenient parking is available in the adjoining Town Hall lot south of the park. Audience members are encouraged to bring folding chairs and sun protection.

This is the first concert of the Castle Rock Band's outdoor summer concert series. After the Memorial Weekend Concert, the band's next performance will be an evening Independence Concert on Saturday, June 29, 7:00 pm in Festival Park.

The Castle Rock Band is made up of volunteer musicians from Douglas County and the surrounding area. Members range from high school age to senior citizens.
