6:30pm – Planetarium Show: Tales of the Maya Skies
(35m) Through the magic of technology and imagination, you are about to take a trip across time and space to visit a world as it no longer exists today: the world of the ancient Maya civilization! The great pyramid and other stone observatories and structures in the ruins of Chichen Itza in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula have been laser-scanned and recreated digitally to enable your journey. You will see Chichen Itza perhaps as it looked a thousand years ago when the Maya civilization of the ancient world was at its peak. You will also learn about Maya culture's advanced understanding of space, time, and mathematics that allowed them to understand the world as few ancient cultures have.

6:30pm – 7:30pm – Live Folk Music with Seraphina Perkins
Seraphina Perkins is a folk and soul musician, seamstress and storyteller who weaves depth and softness into her expression. Themes of ancestral reverence, strength and ethereal gentleness have been making themselves known to her through sound and lyricism. Folk, soul music and craft holds a grounding force in her life that she loves to share as an offering, and helps to connect with spirit in a tangible way.

7:00pm – Author Talk: Creature Comforts in Space: Designing Enjoyment and Sustainability for Off-World Living
After 50 years of space exploration, off-world living is still like going on an extreme camping trip. Living out there is uncomfortable at best. This book tackles the challenge of Creature Comforts: those hard-to-describe things that make life more enjoyable, have mental health benefits, and are fun! Using the analogy of building a homestead on the high frontier, early space settlers need to develop long term sustainability techniques with limited resources. This book isn't just about making life better beyond our planet; it's a blueprint for enhancing life on Earth through thoughtful, space-inspired design.
Samuel Coniglio is a space futurist and technical writer. Member of the Space Tourism Society, he researches off-world domestic concepts. His Zero Gravity Cocktail Glass and Cocktail-making robots won international acclaim. His new book "Creature Comforts in Space" guides designers to create an enjoyable and sustainable off-world lifestyle.

7:30-10:30 – Free Public Telescope Viewing

7:30pm – The Sky Tonight: Live Zeiss Show

7:30pm – 10:00pm – Telescope Makers Workshop

8:00pm – Open Mic
Bring your nature-inspired poetry and music in a celebration of the night sky and our beautiful home planet as a part of First Friday: ART X SCIENCE! Performer sign-up sheet will be available beginning at 6:00pm in Studio 3 and will remain open until slots are filled.

8:30pm – Short Films for the Future: Dear Moon and Glisten
Dear Moon:
What would the Moon tell Humankind and the Earth if she could feel and communicate? Through music, poetry, and visual art, Dear Moon tells a story that is still for humanity to write, hoping that the future she dreams about will one day become humanity's present.
Join us in the Theater for a screening of the film, followed by a virtual glimpse behind-the-scenes at the making of the movie with filmmakers Ola Mirzoeva and Robin LeBeau.
