City of Port Wentworth 4th annual Black History Month Event

The City of Port Wentworth will host its fourth annual Black History Month event from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 at Rice Creek School, located on 100 Mulberry Ave. in Port Wentworth. The celebration has been curated to honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future. This free event follows the overarching national theme of Black History Month in 2026: A century of Black History Commemorations. Attendees can expect musical entertainment from a live DJ, performances by student groups, a historical presentation, and special guest appearances that all aim to celebrate 100 years of national efforts to study, honor, and celebrate Black history and contributions. The keynote speaker for the event will be Rev. Paul Smith, president of the Savannah chapter of the NAACP. “Celebrating Black History Month is a great way to bring attention to the phenomenal individuals that came before us and those that will come after. We are excited to bring our community together to celebrate,” said Port Wentworth Councilman Rufus Bright. In addition to educational and entertainment portions of the event, the celebration offers an opportunity for residents to learn and celebrate together.
