Civic Space Pops! - A FREE Concert in the Park

Desert Overture, Phoenix's Premier LGBT and Ally Wind Symphony, is partnering with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department to host Civic Space Pops! on Sunday, March 24 at 4:00 p.m. This FREE concert will take place at Civic Space Park at 424 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004, located in downtown Phoenix. The Pops concert spans a wide range of styles and genres, and always features plenty of fun, recognizable songs. Music includes selections from the musicals, Rent and Hairspray, as well as a rousing arrangement of "Lift Every Voice and Sing."

"Our performance always takes us to all kinds of unexpected places," said Scott Helms, Desert Overture Band Director. "This concert will be no different and highly entertaining."

Desert Overture, with its more than 70 musicians, was formed in 2010 and remains a hidden cultural gem in the Valley of the Sun. The concert band is an active member of the Pride Bands Alliance, which has grown to 37 member bands across the country, as well as internationally. The group performs several major concerts each year.

Many Desert Overture members played instruments in high school and college and now enjoy producing quality music, along with friends in once-a-week rehearsals.
