We'll kick off the panel with Bill McKibben, over Zoom, a renowned climate activist and author, who will share his insights and vision for a greener world. He will talk about The State of the Climate Crisis. On the stage at Pigott Auditorium, Dr. Charlyne Smith (Ph.D nuclear engineering) from the Breakthrough Institute will lead a panel discussion on the role of nuclear power and discuss her work to bring nuclear energy to her home country of Jamaica. Longtime expert on nuclear waste, Dr. James Conca, and Scott Montgomery an international affairs scholar from University of Washington's Jackson School of Intl. Studies will join her.
We will explore the future of hydropower in Washington and how Seattle City Light is working to improve grid resiliency with David Logsdon, Director of Electrification and Strategic Technology for Seattle City Light. Jennifer Grove, Director of WA state Dept. of Commerce Clean Energy Fund will talk about how to reduce the energy burden on low income families.
