The Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution hosts first ever Colonial Faire, a community event which will feature 18th century themed activities and demonstrations, live entertainment, speeches by colonial figures, a secret spy mission, photo ops and more. This event is inspired by the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence ( official anniversary 2026) “ Attendees will get a real sense of what life was like in the 1770s says Jennifer Tousey, Committee chair of the event. “ it is our hope people will walk away with ideas, information, and excitement about America turning 250 years old.” Activities include becoming a spy for George Washington and going on a Culper Ring spy mission, completing a worksheet scavenger hunt or interviewing a Patriot to learn their story and perspective. First person historical interpreters will be representing forgotten patriots including women and patriots of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Forgotten patriots scheduled to be present include Debra Samson, Polly Cooper, Phyllis Wheatley, Billy Flora, Sarah Wister, John Greenwood, Nathanial Sackett and Martha Washington. There will be opportunity to listen to them speak as well as meet and even interview. There will also be demonstrations, the Journey of wool from sheep to weaving, broom making and hide tanning.
