Festival Fairbanks presents Concerts in the Plaza Fairbanks Community Jazz Band Established as part of the Fairbanks Community Band in 2003, this large 20-piece big band ensemble features 5 saxophones, 3-4 trombones, 3-4 trumpets, guitar, bass, drums, piano, vibraphone, and vocals. It features community musicians from a wide range of ages. The band plays a wide variety of classic big band jazz music, ranging from Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington to Gordon Goodwin and his Big Phat Band, with some modern arrangements. The band is currently under the direction of Eddie Banks.
