Dia De Los Muertos at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Introducing our Dia De Los Muertos Fundraising Event, the first of its kind at AVANCE-Austin. Serving the Austin community since 1997, AVANCE’s mission is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty through innovative, 2-generation education and support for families with young children. Our programs assist low-income, Spanish-speaking families in achieving long-term educational success and breaking the familial cycles of poverty. AVANCE hopes to build a future where children and parents advance to their full potential, transforming the communities in which we live. This celebratory event raises funds essential to our high-impact work, which dramatically shifts school dropout and poverty cycle statistics. You’re invited to have dinner under the stars, surrounded by the beautiful gardens of the Wildflower Center, and to engage in opportunities and hands-on family activities to immerse yourself in Latino tradition and cultural heritage during the event. Special dance performance by JWSD Studio, a reading of the iconic book Rosita y Conchita, and a performance by DJ Kickit alongside dancing for the whole family. Throughout the night, we will also have tacos y agua frescas from Sarita’s Tacos and face painting, paper making workshops, skull mask decorating, and a marigold making workshop.
